When Jimmy left this morning, he turned off my alarm. Which, in turn meant I woke up an hour and a half later than I wanted to. I’ve been sitting here trying to get the energy up to go for a long run and have decided that I’m actually going to skip it today. My leg is still hurting so I should really rest it. I don’t have any huge races coming up until January (Which I officially start training for next week) so, I should really rest up so that I can train properly. Jimmy is taking me away this weekend on a surprise trip. He said that we are going to be doing a lot of activities on Saturday, so to save my energy. So, today I plan on heading to the gym to get in more strength training and possibly some cross training on the elliptical. :)
In other news… This morning I signed up for a Turkey Trot!
I did the Troy Turkey Trot a few years ago and really enjoyed it. This was of course in my very early running years. I remember being very challenged during this race, so it will be interesting to see how I do now with more running experience behind me. I like the idea of a Thanksgiving Day race because it forces you to workout before you indulge in all of the Thanksgiving food about to come your way! I’ll be running this with my friend Tom, who I haven’t had a chance to see in a while. It will be a great way to catch up with a friend!
Another race I will be running in a few weeks is the Rock ‘n Roll Series New York 10K. I’m excited about this race because I’ll be running it with a few of my friends and my friend Sara might be coming down from Buffalo, NY (For those of you not from the area, Buffalo is really far from NYC) to run with me! I’ve never run a race in these series, but heard that they are a lot of fun and filled with music and lots of energy through the course!
Next week, I start my official training for my Ragnar Relay Race in January. I’ll do a full post on this soon so stay tuned! :)
